About me

Before returning to my engineering roots, my career path took me into a demanding role in sales and management within the arms distribution industry. While I gained valuable experience prior to the pandemic, I increasingly found myself feeling disconnected from the work on a deeper level. A sense of indifference began to set in, often overshadowed by significant stress and a feeling of being adrift, despite any external markers of success.

That period prompted a lot of reflection. I realized I wasn't engaging my core passions for problem-solving, technology, and building tangible things. The stress and lack of fulfillment became a catalyst for making a significant change. I made the conscious, deliberate choice to pivot – to step back from my established path and return to academia to pursue what truly interested me: Mechanical Engineering, here at UBC.

Since making that decision, the shift has been incredibly energizing and rewarding. Stepping back into the world of engineering has allowed me to dive into challenges that genuinely excite me. I've had the chance to contribute to cutting-edge sensor research during an international placement at Bosch in Germany, delve into the design of high-performance automotive components like turbochargers, and explore the potential of advanced materials like aramid composites.

Engaging with these "cool" technical problems, collaborating with talented teams, and the constant process of learning and applying new knowledge has completely revitalized my professional outlook. That old sense of indifference has been replaced by genuine passion, curiosity, and a clear sense of purpose. I'm now driven by the challenge of tackling complex engineering problems and contributing to meaningful innovation.
